How to export the video with embedded subtitles
Exporting your video with embedded subtitles is a seamless process with Matesub, available to users with either Pro and Team plans.
A quick note on plans: This feature is available to users on our Pro and Team plans. If you are a Pro user, please note you need the €30 or €50 version to access this functionality.
Step 1: Go to export video
First, sign in to Matesub, navigate to the project you want to export, click the “Export” button, and then select “Video.”
Step 2: Choose your embedding method
You have two options for embedding subtitles:
- Burn-in subtitles (hard subs): this permanently embeds the subtitles directly into the video frames. The subtitles will always be visible and cannot be turned off by the viewer.
- Soft embedding (soft subs): this option keeps the subtitles in the same file as the video, but they can be toggled on or off by the viewer in compatible media players (like VLC).
Step 3: Finalize export
After selecting the method you prefer, click “Export video.” Matesub will start processing your file. Once it’s ready, we’ll send you an email with the download link.
Additional notes
Currently, you cannot customize the font style for Burn-in (Hard) subtitles inside Matesub—they use a default setting. If you need specific fonts or styles, we recommend using the Soft Embedding option and then making those adjustments in your preferred video editing tool.
